Hero's Tribute represents a rare find, a Thoroughbred stallion with both the pedigree and the functional conformation for sport.
His pedigree boasts 3 of the 4 ancestors in his second generation and all 8 of the ancestors in his third generation as progenitors of international competitors, primarily in jumping and eventing. He has the same sire as Dustin IV (3* eventer), his broodmare sire is the sire of Napur (USET jumper) and his second dam is a full sister to the grandsire of Jake (4* eventer). And now, with close relatives competing in all three Olympic disciplines, his pedigree is likely to get even stronger.
In a race career that spanned 5 years (from 2 to 6 years of age), he won graded stakes races and earned $862,950, proving his athleticism and his soundness.
As one would expect from his pedigree and race record, the placement of his lumbosacral gap is within athletic limits. His stifle is well below his sheath, meaning he has a ground-covering stride and scope. His pillar of support emerges well in front of the withers for lightness of the forehand and into the rear quarter of his hoof for soundness. His humerus has a fairly steep rise from elbow to point of shoulder, which adds more lightness and aids in the ability to snap the knees up when jumping. And his base of neck is well above his point of shoulder, adding even further lightness of the forehand. Contact Judy Wardrope for an illustrated analysis of his functional conformation.
This classically elegant stallion also possesses intelligence and a professional demeanor - traits he passes on to his offspring. He is also passing on lightness of the forehand, length of neck and some scope - qualities suitable for show hunters and the Olympic disciplines.
