LioCalyon - Performance - This son of Liostro is beautiful, athletic and well mannered. This athletic ability and big heart led him into the winner's circle many times. LioCalyon retired in 2006 after a long and prolific career. He didn't miss a show season in 10 years of competition. He campaigned successfully at the Grand Prix level in California, Oregon and Canada with Mandy Porter. LioCalyon was awared in 2010 the USEF South Pacific award for leading U.S. based sire of show jumpers.
LioCalyon's sire, Liostro is the last approved son of Ladykiller. Liostro was the leading producer of money winners in the US in 2002. Ladykiller is considered to be one of the most important jumper sires of modern time. On his dam's side, Calypso II's progeny show not only great jumping form, but also wonderful rideability. Calypso II's 18 stallion sons include Contendor, Coriolan, Colani, Chassur I and II, to name a few. His grandsire is Cor De La Bryere whose incredible bascule and jumping ability is credited with improving the Holsteiner jumping style. "Corde" passes along strong nerves, intelligence and great willingness to perform. He established many sibling dynasties, Calypso I-V, Corrado I and II, Caletto I -III.
LioCalyon's offspring have done very well in the show ring. Dunstan Delphi, with Katie McVean competed at the 2010 WEG in Kentucky for the New Zealand team jumping two clear rounds. In 2011 Dunstan Delphi finished 6th at the World Cup in Germany and was later sold to the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation for an undisclosed sum. She will be competing in the 2012 Olympics in London with her new rider. Peterbilt was the 2010 PCHA Horse of the Year.
At the 2011 Wild Turkey Farm AHHA Approvals, WT Dragonfly scored a 9 for movement and was awarded premium foal, along with WT Dexy. De Suena owned by Ashley Norris was a premium foal at the AHHA Approvals at Pollyrich.
