Rex Grannus is a talented stallion that competed successfully in the international arena. He competed as a Grand Prix Jumper, in Advanced Dressage and in Puissance (6'10+"). Reiner Klimke rode Rex.
He is registered in both the Zangersheide Studbook and the Westfalen Studbook (stallion book 1). He completed the 100-day stallion test in Munster-Handorf Germany in 1993. The comment given about him "The stallion convinced with his endless capability, his calmness and his mechanics, which is very elastic through all of his body…" Rex Grannus has 18 foals registered in the Westfalen studbook (7 fillies, 11 colts). Many of his offspring have competed throughout Europe.
Rex Grannus combines the two famous lines of Ramiro (grand sire) and Grannus (dam grand sire). Ramiro Z was an international show jumper and one of the world's most influential German sires. Ramiro sired many approved sons and daughters, Ratina Z, Rinaldo, Rio Negro, Ronald to name a few. His other grand sire, Grannus competed successfully under Guido Klatte at the highest level of Grand Prix jumping. He also sired numerous international jumpers, Top Gun under Jan Tops, Grand Slam under Nick Skelton and Graf Grannus who was the Hanoverian stallion of the year in 2004.
