Donarweiss GGF Earns Lifetime Breeding License with ISR/Oldenburg

Consistently scoring in the high 60's and 70's at Prix St. Georges, Donarweiss GGF (De Niro - Hohenstein) has bounded over the ISR/Oldenburg performance requirements to secure his Lifetime Breeding License. Competing at Prix St. Georges for the first time this season, Donarweiss has easily fulfilled the requirements of five scores over 65%, placing 1st through 3rd, and from at least three different judges and shows. He completed his final scores at Dressage at Heavenly Waters June 21-22, where he won both of his classes with scores over 70%.
Donarweiss GGF, owned by Greengate Farm and managed by Hilltop Farm, has an impressive record for only being seven years old. As a three year old, Donarweiss won the NEDA Grand Championship, New England Cosequin Championship, and was the USDF Horse of the Year for three year old colts and geldings. His outstanding movement consistently scored '8's for all three gaits and a '9' for rideability, thus earning him Overall Champion of his 30-day performance test. Donarweiss showed with Meredith Morray in 2006 and 2007 in the FEI Young Horse classes. Chris Hickey took over the ride in November and Donarweiss has shown incredible maturity and consistency this season in his FEI debut. Chris comments, "Donarweiss has made amazing progress since last fall. After only showing a few times this past fall at Third Level, he began learning his pirouettes and tempi's changes in October and was ready to show them in January. It's truly outstanding that even before his seventh birthday he was able to be so competitive in open shows, not just in his age group classes."
In addition to his exciting performance career, Donarweiss is already proving his consistency in producing quality offspring. His son Dionysus, bred and owned by Christine Shea, was the Reserve Champion Young Horse at the USDF/GAIG New England Series Final and finished 4th in the USDF standings for his age group.
