ISR/Oldenburg Inspection - Aug 23-24

Posted: October 22, 2008

The Aug. 23-24 ISR/Oldenburg inspection at Hilltop Farm had an exciting turn-out with seven stallions being presented, and six being approved. Three of the stallions received a Certified Breeding Licenses: Wonderboy (Darco- Voltaire), the young stallion Alexander (Tuschinski - Mooiman), and Cocktails Olymp (Cocktail - Ferro). Stallions who received their Lifetime Approval were Schroeder (Sandro Hit - Escudo I), Romeo (Rajko - Julio Mariner xx), and Greener Pastures Equine's Cardinal (Zeus - Inschallah) who had the high score of the day with a 221.5. It is worth noting that Cardinal is 21 years old!

The mare presentation also had a large turn- out with a total of 18 mares being presented over the two days. Two mares were entered into the Pre-Mare Book due to pedigree requirements, even though their scores were high enough for the Main Mare Book - Cashmere (Carlost - Bedford xx) and Lhotze (Loerke - xx). Thirteen mares were entered into the main marebook, including Kitty In A Tree (Knockadoon xx - Olympio xx), the beautiful pony mare H.K.'s Sassy Pants (Brigadoon - Timbo xx), Unforgettable HTF (Riverman - Cabaret), Propper Priestess (Regal and Royal xx - Bupers xx), Ramere (Rambo - Carlost), Contesse (Contucci - HLP Caribo), Tis Lycius (Lycius xx - Our Captain Willie xx), Shafra Gold (Shafrazi xx - Squire xx), Margot (Manitu - Marsala), Big Hearted Lady (Big Spruce xx - Talk About Luck xx), Baltic Cadence (LA Baltic Inspiration - Fire Dancer xx), Shaman Bird (Imperial Falcon xx - Our Native xx), and Future Fantasia (For the Future - Sunset Enzio). Four mares were entered into the stud book as Premium, including Ravena (Riverman - Tantris), Raja HTF (Royal Prince - Parabol), Technique (Jazz - Zeoliet), and Balmoral (Bugatti Hilltop -I'ma Hell Raisen) owned and bred by Didi Callahan who was the High Scoring Mare with a 108 and also passed her Mare Performance Test with a 76%.

A whopping thirty-three foals were presented at the inspection with nine earning the Premium designation. A note for this year, the requirements for the Premium Award have been raised and we've seen a significant decrease in the number of premium foals. The Champion Filly was Holliday HTF (Bugatti Hilltop - Festrausch) bred by Hilltop Farm and now owned by Timothy and Caroline Hoekstra with an overall score of 8.4. Judges commented, "Modern sporthorse type with a wonderful body and movement." Reserve Champion filly went to Virginia Parker's Veronica (Vinca- Jazz) with a score of 8.3. Other fillies that also earned Premium included Grace (Rousseau - Riverman) and Rococo Chanel (Royal Prince - Davignon).

The Champion colt went to BW-Raphael (Royal Prince - A Jungle Prince) owned by Linda Santomenna with a score of 8.6, with inspectors commenting "long, beautiful lines" and "very correct legs." A sport pony foal, Fearless (Forrest Flame - Wicked Court Jester) owned by Phyllis Hamilton, earned Reserve Champion with a score of 8.4. Three other Premium colts were named including Ruzar (Rousseau - Alla Czar), Forever in Paris (Festrausch - Quicklove Fontaine), and Freshwind in Paris (Festrausch - Ahorn).

Overall, it was two wonderful days at Hilltop Farm. As usual, Ekkehard and Christian were generous in their time in explaining comments and scores to the interested audience. Thank you to all who attended.
