For the third time Jan Brink rode Briar in the Rolex FEI World Cup in Las Vegas, which was Briar's final competition appearance. While not receiving his best score for his freestyle because of his playful antics, he received a standing ovation as fans bid farewell to the handsome18 year old Swedish Warmblood stallion.

Briar 899 has represented Sweden in three Olympics (Sydney in 2000, Athens in 2004, and Hong Kong in 2008), seven World Cup Finals (2001-2003 and 2005-2008) and two World Equestrian Games (2002 and 2006). He has also won six Swedish Championships, an individual silver medal at the 2003 European Championships, a bronze team medal at the 2005 European Championships, and more than 30 international Grand Prix classes.

He currently has 11 approved sons, and 10 of his foals are being shown at the Grand Prix level along with several talented offspring that show in the jumpers.
